Cathedral Cove

Also called Te Whanganui-A-Hei, Cathedral Cove is one of the most beautiful places to visit in New Zealand. Located 170km from Auckland, its secluded position on the Coromandel Peninsula adds to the local beauty, with no buildings and shops nearby.

The best way to get there is by car, to the park's parking lot, and take a well-located 45-minute drive to the beach where the cave is located.

However, do not forget to take snacks and water with you, as the local structure is minimal.

With BitBook.net you save money while take a vacation or a business trip.

Hot water beach

Not far from Cathedral Cove is a spectacular beach called Hot Water Beach. Unlike the others, the sea has warm water and locals go before and after high tide to dig natural pools and take advantage of the water temperature. The scene is unusual, but worth the experience.

You can arrive by car and there is a parking lot in front of the beach.

Lord of the Rings Scenery

If you are a movie fan and have always wanted to see a movie set, New Zealand is the right destination. A 2-hour drive from Auckland is Hobbiton, the village in the films “Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit”. The look is Middle Earth, and the houses are built in the mountains.

Admission is $89 for ages 17 and older, $44 for 9-16 year olds and free for children under 8.

Waitomo caves

Dive into the ancient caverns beneath the green hills of the King Country to see the spectacle created by the Arachnocampa Luminosa, the species of luminescent worms that glow in Waitomo Caves. The place is well known and offers guided tours and boats that pass through the tunnels and underground waterfalls.

Maori amaki

One of the places to visit in New Zealand that is essential to visit is Tamaki Maori, a cultural center where you learn about Maori traditions, indigenous natives of the New Zealand islands, the villa is in the central part of the North Island, 3 hours drive from Auckland.

The place has a tourist structure, but respects the rituals and demonstrates very well how the communities used to live.

The experience ranges from spending the night in a marae (Maori houses), to learning about ancient traditions and eating a hangi (meal cooked on the ground).

Waimangu Volcanic Valley

The Waimangu Volcanic Valley is one of the places to visit in New Zealand. It is the youngest geothermal system in the world, created by a volcanic eruption of Mount Tarawera in mid-1886.

It's beautiful, filled with pools, steaming craters and one of the bluest lakes in the world.

The Inferno crater is the most beautiful, but swimming in the water is not allowed, as it is highly acidic and the temperature reaches 80 degrees. The tour of the region is paid and admission can be purchased on the website

Price for the full experience, hike, landmark and lookout tour, is $30 per person

Cook Mountain

For adventurous families, our tip is to take one of the many hikes on Cook Mountain, the highest in all of New Zealand.

The scenery is breathtaking, with the peak covered in snow and the paths with green vegetation.

Access is by car to Southern Alps Guiding and from there hire a guide, or go alone along the paths of the park.

Some are short and very well signposted, so they can be done even with small children. Others, like the Mueller Hut route, need experience and a lot of stamina.

Mine Bay Māori Rock Carvings

Not so well known, but super cool, this is another beach place to visit in New Zealand. The Mine Bay Māori Rock Carvings is a 10-metre tall representation of the Māori ancestor Ngatoroirangi, all carved from stone.

Access is only via boat trips or rented kayaks from Taupo City, which start at $39 per person.
